Our practice offers Specialist Family Medicine. Led by Dr Emcy Louw, Specialist Family Physician, we provide expert assessment, diagnosis and management of both common and complex health conditions across every stage of life.

Family physicians are medical specialists who, after completing their undergraduate medical degree, internship and community service, undertake a further four years of specialist training in Family Medicine, similar to other recognised medical specialties such as Internal Medicine, Paediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

Meet Dr Emcy Louw

Specialist Family Physician

Dr Emcy Louw is a Specialist Family Physician with more than ten years of clinical experience and a passion for delivering comprehensive, person-centred healthcare.

After graduating from Stellenbosch University, she completed her internship and community service at Paarl Provincial Hospital, where she developed a strong connection with the Paarl community and obtained a Diploma in Child Health. She later worked as a Medical Officer in primary healthcare and at Stellenbosch Hospital before completing her specialist training in Family Medicine in 2024.

As a Family Physician, Dr Louw has advanced training across a broad range of medical disciplines, enabling her to provide expert care for patients of all ages. She has a particular passion for children’s health, women’s health and the management of chronic lifestyle diseases. She also has a keen interest in mental health, geriatric care and supporting patients living with complex medical conditions.

Dr Louw believes that exceptional healthcare begins with listening. She takes the time to understand each patient’s unique circumstances, identify the underlying causes of illness, build lasting relationships and develop personalised, evidence-based care plans that support lifelong health and wellbeing.

In addition to consulting in private practice, Dr Louw provides medical care for patients in the hospital-at-home setting and has experience in frail care. She is committed to making specialist healthcare more accessible through services such as home visits and coordinated, community-based care.
